In an effort to bring the spirit of open innovation into the siloed, risk-averse world of government, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is looking for a few good entrepreneurs.

In October it launched the first session of the HHSentrepreneurs program, which pairs creative minds from the private sector with a team of HHS internal entrepreneurs and technical advisers to tackle some of the department’s highest-risk, highest-reward projects.

Now it’s looking for a new set of entrepreneurs to spend 12 months working on projects including health information exchange accelerators and mapping of medical malpractice data. The program encourages startup practices like rapid iteration and testing to create the best possible solutions.

HHS’ Chief Technology Officer Bryan Sivak emphasized that entrepreneurs don’t necessarily need to be tech-focused to participate. Check out this video or have a look at the full list of projects here. Applications are open through August 16.
