For those of us who watch Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” frequently, the news of Jon Stewart’s departure has been difficult to digest. And we all wondered, who could possibly replace him?

Looks like the verdict is in, according to The New York Times. It’s one of the show’s newer correspondents, Trevor Noah. He’s a South African comedian who isn’t afraid to approach political issues, as he’s displayed via social media in the past few years.

Stewart has left big shoes to fill since he began hosting in 1999, but this guy appears to have the gusto, the balance of comedic perspective and politically educated opinion, it takes to handle the job. It seems like a better move for the network to bring in someone who has been slightly under the radar so expectations aren’t prematurely established like they would be with some of the other rumored contenders.

Here’s a clip of him touching on healthcare with his reflection on interactions with nurses (he’s talked about nurses going on strike previously, and apparently nurses in South Africa don’t find his humor that entertaining).
