Susannah Fox will make some of her first public remarks as Chief Technology Officer for Health and Human Services on July 15 as the closing keynote speaker for MedCity ENGAGE, MedCityNews.com’s summit on patient engagement and healthcare delivery.
This is an exciting moment for the next generation of patient-engagement strategies. MedCity ENGAGE has quickly emerged as one of the places you hear the most memorable talks in healthcare.
Now, Fox joins Humana Chief Medical Officer Roy Beveridge; Dr. Jon White, the acting deputy national coordinator for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology; and patient-turned-entrepreneur Kezia Fitzgerald as keynote speakers across the two-day event on July 14-15 in Bethesda, Maryland.

Fox took the position at the end of May simply because the opportunity was too good to pass up.
One morning a few weeks ago I went for an early-morning run. I thought about the thousands of people who have shared their stories with me over the last 15 years, hoping that I could find a way to channel their ingenuity, humanity and hard-won experience to heal healthcare. Not to be too metaphysical, but I felt all of them with me at that moment. I knew then that I would serve them by taking on this role if it was offered to me.
Fox is a right-place-right-time appointment for HHS. She is its third CTO and the first woman to ascend to the position. Plus, as the debate over patient power in healthcare continues, she has already pledged to “support and expand” efforts to free all kinds of health data stored in government databases.
“I’m a health data geek from way back and think we’ve only just begun to harness its power,” Fox said.
MedCity ENGAGE is excited to give the latest CTO of Health and Human Services a platform to share her vision for healthcare technology – not just to the audience at ENGAGE, but to the entire audience at MedCityNews.com.
Join us on July 14-15 to hear Susannah Fox share her vision, listen to discussions on topics from transparency to patient stories, and participate in workshops that will develop new kinds of solutions to the biggest challenges in patient engagement.
