Technology consulting firm Cimphoni is now expanding into medical devices with the addition of Cimphoni Life Sciences, LLC in partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin.

The collaboration includes the work of engineers, industrial designers, physicians and research staff in an effort to further innovation within the medical devices sector.

Initially, the company reportedly plans to focus on the areas of treatment of osteoporosis and accelerated fracture healing, immunochromatographic assays for the diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infections as well as diagnosis using nano-scale technology.

“Imagine the possibilities when world-class physicians and medical researchers combine their knowledge and expertise with both engineers and technology experts to drive innovation in completely new directions,” Rick Davidson, President and CEO of Cimphoni, said in a company statement. “The possibilities are limited only to our imaginations, and the positive impact for patients could be truly profound.”

It’s unclear if or how long the collaboration between Cimphoni and the Medical College of Wisconsin have been working together prior to this announcement, but this is certainly an expansion from some of the other work Cimphoni does with things like consulting about IT software optimization, supply chain optimization and Internet of Things software embedding.
