Elizabeth Holmes mugs for Annie Leibovitz in this month’s Vanity Fair

It’s been another bad week for the Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes, who undoubtedly is more morose these days than she was last October, when she was mugging for the star photog at Vanity Fair’s annual New Establishment Summit.

Elizabeth Holmes can be spotted grinning in Vanity Fair this month, posing among luminaries like Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk in a group photo shot by Annie Leibovitz.

But it’s been another bad week for the Theranos CEO, who undoubtedly is more morose these days than she was last October, when she was mugging for the star photog at Vanity Fair’s annual New Establishment Summit.

For instance, Holmes backed out of a genomics conference last week in San Diego, with a spokesperson saying to Medscape in an e-mail that: “Right now, we are laser focused on the publication of our data, along with conducting in-depth scientific review sessions, and look forward to sharing the news in the coming months.”

And Monday, the Wall Street Journal ran yet another damning story on Theranos’ squiffy ethics in terms of its diagnostics accuracy. A federal report says that Theranos ran a test on 81 patients, despite quality control checks showing variable results on the test’s efficacy.

All in all, a mild irony that Holmes was featured in Vanity Fair among those who have earned their stripes – like Musk and Zuckerberg – in the midst of her company’s tumble down, down, down. Sorry, Liz.
