Global startup accelerator Dreamit announces new cohort of companies for 2016

For Dreamit’s inaugural 2016 cycle, the accelerator has accepted 25 new companies – twice the number it usually accepts and the first class to be part of its evolved new program.

For Dreamit‘s inaugural 2016 four-month cycle, the accelerator has accepted 25 new companies – twice the number it usually accepts and the first class to be part of its evolved new program. Fifteen of these startups are part of the accelerator’s health division. Nearly 1,000 companies applied to be part of the accelerator from more than 40 companies.

Dreamit has changed it’s model for the type of companies it approves, including those that already have funding and don’t typically look to an accelerator to move forward.

Last year, Dreamit began its “Zero/Zero” offer, which allows entrepreneurs to be involved without giving up equity during the four month program. The accelerator is also giving up “Demo Day” and instead will curate investor meetings during a two-week bi-coastal investor roadshow.

This marks the fourth year that Dreamit Health has been in partnership with Penn Medicine and Independence Blue Cross, and it has now added Zimmer Biomet and other the increased amount of startups thanks to a Blackstone Innovation Grant.

  • Somatix – Preventative behavioral health data-analytics software platform for smoking cessation, using big data derived from wearables.

  • Wellth – Behavioral economics meets healthcare. Works with healthcare payers to produce cost-saving behavior changes in members through science-based incentive plans
