According to the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital report “Sick kids, struggling parents” nearly two-thirds of parents of young children in child care say their children could not attend [school] because of illness in the past year and one-third of parents of young children are concerned about losing jobs or losing pay when taking off work to care for their sick children. According to the Commonwealth Fund: Labor time lost due to health reasons represents lost output totaling $260 billion per year and the CDC documents that two thirds of school age children lost time to illness.

Against this backdrop Bundoo Founder, Dr. Lewis Warshauer and CEO Stephanie Winans have a better idea how to help pregnant women and families with younger children. They expanded Bundoo services which were originally targeted toward individuals to a service that can be used by companies and provider groups. These offerings are called Bundoo for Employers and Bundoo for Payers.

Bundoo is bridging the gap between doctors and parents by fostering with evidence-based articles, an expert-moderated forum and private telehealth service. All content is independently developed and written and reviewed by physicians and healthcare experts. Parents can post comments or questions on the content itself or in Community forums, but they can also  ask questions privately to pediatricians and OB/GYNs with Bundoo’s Ask a Doctor service.

The new offerings provide for the incorporation of the site into a company or payer intranet. Interest from both investors and corporations has become high and the company expects some major announcements in the future.

On the spirit of full disclosure, I’ve been working with Bundoo to help them launch these offerings.
