But the climate is improving, as American Telemedicine Association board member Alexis Gilroy, an partner in the Washington office of law firm Jones Day, said at this week’s ATA annual conference in Minneapolis.

According to Gilroy, people are starting to realize that telemedicine is becoming simply another form of medicine. “It’s really just the provision of healthcare. We’re just using a different modality to accomplish that,” said Gilroy, who serves on the state of Maryland’s Telemedicine Task Force.
