MedCity invites digital health startups to compete at INVEST Twin Cities conference

Digital health/Health IT startups are invited to apply to MedCity’s Pitch Perfect contest for a chance to present live to investors during INVEST Twin Cities, a digital-health focused conference, on Oct. 11.

contest, spotlight

Highlighting innovative startups is what we do here at MedCity and like last year, we are holding a digital health/Health IT-only pitch contest as part of our second INVEST Twin Cities Conference, Oct. 11

The Twin Cities INVEST event is aimed at debating important topics in the digital health industry while also connecting entrepreneurs to investors. See agenda here.

So who can apply to be selected for the Pitch Perfect contest?

Digital health startups who have had at least one seed round of funding, have been founded in 2013 or later, and are currently seeking or intend to seek additional rounds of capital within six to 12 months of the conference.

Only 10 startups will be selected to pitch to three judges live in front of the gathered audience. [We have one judge confirmed already: Jessica Zeaske, Director of Healthcare Investments, GE Ventures.]

Entrepreneur pitches will be followed by a rapid Q&A session with the judges who will score their presentations based on a number of factors including quality of presentation. Winners will be announced shortly thereafter.

A Deep-dive Into Specialty Pharma

A specialty drug is a class of prescription medications used to treat complex, chronic or rare medical conditions. Although this classification was originally intended to define the treatment of rare, also termed “orphan” diseases, affecting fewer than 200,000 people in the US, more recently, specialty drugs have emerged as the cornerstone of treatment for chronic and complex diseases such as cancer, autoimmune conditions, diabetes, hepatitis C, and HIV/AIDS.

There is no application fee and the deadline to apply is 9 pm ET, August 1.
