Two organizations working in the urgent care space — DocuTAP, an EMR and practice management software company, and Practice Velocity, which has EMR software and billing services — intend to merge.

The news was revealed in an announcement posted on both organizations’ websites.

The merger is still pending regulatory approval. Until the deal closes, the companies will continue to operate as separate entities.

“Merging gives us the ability to accelerate innovation in the industry and respond to the biggest problems facing consumer-focused healthcare today,” the post reads. “With this merger, we combine our expertise to power the patient-centered healthcare revolution, offering a complete suite of on-demand healthcare solutions that help our clients maximize revenue and reach their goals.”

The post also notes that the combined company will continue to support both DocuTAP’s and Practice Velocity’s platforms. It will also offer solutions for consulting, patient engagement, teleradiology and more to the shared clients.

“In the long-term, we will leverage our combined expertise and innovation to deliver a brand new, best-of-breed solution, raising the bar for urgent care technology,” the post notes.

Per a tweet, the companies intend to reveal more information at the Urgent Care Association conference on April 8 at 9:30 PM ET:
