It appears that the novel coronavirus is not the only cause of deaths. Apparently, fraud and corruption have claimed lives as well.
A new study from Nemexis, an Berlin-based anti-fraud consulting firm, found that fraud and corruption in healthcare services reduced healthcare delivery contributing to Covid-19 related death in every third country surveyed. In fact, that led to whistleblower complaints in half of the 58 countries surveyed.

“It is the first study based almost exclusively on input from anti-fraud specialists – one of the professional groups most likely to have relevant information on the issue at hand,” said Dr. Paul Milata, the managing partner of Nemexis and a study author. “The survey shows areas of common concern where further investigation is needed.”
