In healthcare, you are either a direct-to-consumer company or a business-to-business company. Buoy Health is straddling the line between them because even after pivoting to the enterprise, the company maintains a tool by which consumers can quickly get some answers about their maladies through a web-based symptom checking tool.
In our conversation, Adrienne McFadden, who at one time was an emergency physician, spoke about the evolution of the company to more of a curated matchmaker connecting and guiding people — through employers and payers — to the best care available. She also spoke passionately about expanding access and improving health equity.
