Joan Lau

Dr. Joan Lau has more than 20 years of executive leadership experience, including as chief executive officer, chief operating officer, trustee, and non-executive director. In 2016, she co-founded Talee Bio, renamed Spirovant after its acquisition, a company focused on discovery and development of gene therapies for respiratory diseases, and serves as its Chief Executive Officer. In 2013, she co-founded and became a partner of Militia Hill Ventures, which creates and builds innovative life science entities.

A recognized leader in the Philadelphia community and biopharma industry, Dr. Lau serves on the boards of trustees for the Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center; the University of Pennsylvania; Brandywine Realty Trust; RiboNova; and Rockwell Medical and served on the board of directors of Renovacor until its acquisition by Rocket Pharmaceuticals. She has been recognized as a Philadelphia Entrepreneur of Year by Ernst & Young and as a Woman of Distinction by the Philadelphia Business Journal.
