Steven Devine and Heather Stefanski

Steven Devine, MD, is Chief Medical Officer at the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP)/Be The Match and Senior Scientific Director at the CIBMTR(Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research). He has a major research interest in the application of HCT for patients with acute leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome and has been Chair of two multi-center NIH-supported clinical transplantation trials in leukemia. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed papers and more than 400 abstracts as well as several reviews and book chapters in the stem cell transplantation, leukemia and hematology field. Dr. Devine is currently one of the three Co-PIs for the NIH-funded Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Trials Network (BMT CTN) Data Coordinating Center. Prior to joining NMDP/Be The Match in March 2018, Dr. Devine was Professor of Medicine and Director of the BMT Program at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Heather Stefanski, MD, PhD, is the Vice President of Medical Services at the NMDP/Be The Match. Prior to her arrival at the NMDP/Be The Match, she was an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Stefanski was actively involved in clinical care and research involving children with life-threatening blood and immune system disorders. One of her areas of focus was the use of cord blood units in hematopoietic cell transplants and CAR-T therapy. She is board certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
