Flawed design is why hospitals are not complying with price transparency rules

Experts believe CMS’ price transparency rule is flawed in its design because the highly complex billing data it is asking hospitals to post is too confusing for consumers to understand. The complicated structure of the healthcare system — from care variance to deductibles to billing codes — means that producing an accurate price estimate is virtually impossible. To improve compliance, hospitals will need health tech companies to step in.

Interoperability now needs to go beyond EHRs to include the larger digital health ecosystem

The next step in the evolution of interoperability will involve examining data flows in digital healthcare, according to panelists at the American Telemedicine Association's annual conference. This includes looking into how data sharing will support telehealth, remote patient monitoring and programs involving wearables.

Prisma Health, Siemens strike 10-year partnership

Per the partnership, Prisma Health will deploy new technologies from Siemens across all its sites of care. Further, they will leverage analytics and AI tools to improve clinical decision-making and operational workflow.
