You can add newly launched iVillage Health to the roster of media outlets for the Cleveland Clinic‘s chief wellness officer, Dr. Michael Roizen.

Roizen is a New York Times best-selling co-author of several “YOU” books, television talk show regular and one of the media’s go-to authorities on wellness. He leads the Clinic’s Wellness Institute, which includes an executive health program, integrative medicine, tobacco treatment center, employee wellness program, as well as Lifestyle 180 and 360-5 Health programs.

Roizen and his business of medicine partner, Dr. Mehmet Oz, also contribute to RealAge, a health Web site owned by Hearst Digital Media and launched by the doctors’ YOU books–a series that covers everything from health in pregnancy to healthy dieting.

Now, Roizen and other Cleveland Clinic professionals will contribute content to iVillage Health, according to WebNewser. iVillage, the online community for women owned by NBC Universal Inc., launched its women’s health site Thursday. It aims to combine medical expertise and original health content with community conversations and interactive tools to help women manage their health–especially its embarrassing aspects–online, iVillage said in a press release.

iVillage updated its look in the fall and has since added new channels around celebrities, food and astrology, according to paidContent.org. The women’s community is working to expand its health and wellness content amid a wave of competition from other female-focused Web sites by launching iVillage Health and, in coming weeks, a pregnancy-focused site, paidContent said.

General Electric Co., which owns NBC, has agreed to sponsor the launch as part of its six-year, $3 billion Healthymagination program that aims at getting more health information in consumers’ hands, according to the Wall Street Journal Health blog. GE has agreed to sell a controlling stake in NBC Universal to Comcast.
