The same group responsible for that weird Uncle Sam-as-a-gynecologist ad from earlier this year is back just in time for Halloween with another strange video encouraging young people to opt out of the health insurance exchange.
This time, conservative group Generation Opportunity mocks the marketing efforts of the Obama administration and urges young people not to “get scared into signing up for Obamacare.”
With the Rise of AI, What IP Disputes in Healthcare Are Likely to Emerge?
Munck Wilson Mandala Partner Greg Howison shared his perspective on some of the legal ramifications around AI, IP, connected devices and the data they generate, in response to emailed questions.
In the new ad, “Chad” is watching TV and can’t escape an overexcited salesman character who appears on every channel encouraging him to “become part of the system” and to “do it for your country.”
Then the salesman starts talking to him personally through the TV, calling his cell phone and sending him emails. That’s when creepy Uncle Sam appears at the door.
Like the last ad released by this group, it also strikes a slightly ironic note by criticizing the fact that signing up for Obamacare requires giving personal information to the federal government. But, the amount of personal information required to apply via the exchange is much less than usually required when applying through a private carrier, who wants to know about pre-existing conditions, family history, etc.
Regardless, it’s meant to be outrageous and cheesy to get people’s attention, and it does that. And at least this time there was no speculum involved.
