Best Doctors today announced it has acquired Rise Health, a population health management company, as part of an effort to beef up its data integration and advanced analytics efforts while expanding into new markets.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Chicago-based Rise Health, founded in 2009, has built a population health platform that it says develops “intelligent, actionable data at a population level, and supports care delivery teams in taking action at the member level,” according to a joint announcement. It seeks to help both payers and providers manage the transition from fee-for-service to more integrated care.

Its products include Ascend Enterprise Platform, Stratus Population Health Analytics application and Cirrus Patient Relationship Manager.
According to Boston-based Best Doctors, Rise Health will add “significant and stable recurring revenue streams” from its product lineup, along with a workforce adept at developing software-based products to address population health, including developing applications for emergency rooms at IBEX, Picis, and Optum. Best Doctors also says Rise Health will bring “rapid development capabilities of technical intellectual property.”
Rise Health’s database includes clinical and claims data and consumer information, combined with internal data generated from Rise Health and now Best Doctors.
