Medheads today: HIMSS wrap up and thoughts about IBM Watson

Members of the MedCity News crew discussed the previous week in healthcare news live in our more recent segment of Medheads.

Although one of the most notable things about our second live MedHeads broadcast was Chris Seper’s selfie stick appearance in honor of #himsselfie, some good opinions on healthcare were also touched on.

Chris and our newest addition to the MedCity team, Neil Versel (who rightfully enjoyed a cold beer during the discussion), had been at the HIMSS health IT conference for the past week. In the segment they, in addition to reporter Stephanie Baum, reflected on the news that came out of the whole experience in Chicago, which some 43,000 people attended.

Throughout the conversation they focused on a number of things that are prominently showing up in the healthcare innovation arena as of late, including: Interoperability, meaningful use, the big focus on patient engagement and what the IBM Watson announcement demonstrates for healthcare moving forward.

These will be happening live each Friday at 4:00 p.m. EDT. But watch this week’s broadcast after the fact below:
