Redox marks first longterm care deal through partnership with specialty EHR provider

Redox’s deal with PointClickCare was its first partnership in senior care and could improve the way data is shared in the longterm care sector.

PointClickCare, a specialty electronic health record vendor that focuses on the longterm and post-acute care markets, has teamed up with Redox in a partnership aimed at enabling the business to exchange post-acute patient information with health systems in a simplified and integrated way.

A spokeswoman for Toronto-based PointClickCare, which marked its first appearance at HIMSS, said the deal with Redox would help the business scale more easily. The partnership also marks Redox’s first in the longterm care sector.

PointClickCare commands significant market share in the long-term care sector. With 15,000 customers across skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, and senior care facilities, PointClickCare claims to have roughly 60 percent market share among EHR companies in this sector. The partnership also marks Redox’s first with a health IT business in the longterm care space. The deal is designed to pave the way for improving data sharing across longterm care.

“They’re working with us to bridge the gap between the post-acute care space and long-term care space,” said Luke Bonney, Redox CEO, in a short interview at HIMSS Tuesday. He said the company’s API services would support PointClickCare in areas such as facility matching and population health management support.

Last fall, Redox inked its first deal with a healthcare system — Brigham Health. Bonney noted that it plans to add more health systems to its customer base in 2018.
