Bright.md added a behavioral health module for its virtual care platform, SmartExam. SmartExam, the leading asynchronous virtual care platform for health systems, enables patients to start the path toward treatment for major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), or adjustment disorder.

SmartExam’s behavioral health module bridges the gap between patients and access to behavioral healthcare, relieving some of the challenges facing providers and patients, including privacy and access to treatment. Studies have shown patients are more likely to be honest when they seek care virtually as it provides more privacy and can help diminish the stigma of mental illness. Patients can log onto SmartExam when and where they need to, spending less than twenty minutes answering questions; and providers can provide support and a treatment plan within one hour after receiving a patient’s information.

“Our new behavioral health module employs the same screening tools physicians use during in-person interviews. These insights drive a comprehensive, adaptive clinical interview that supports diagnosis, treatment, and if appropriate, initiation of prescription medications and referral to a behavioral health practitioner,” says Dr. Ray Costantini, co-founder and CEO of Bright.md. “Although this is only the first step in taking care of their mental health, simply having a plan can be empowering for the millions of patients who have been reluctant or unable to seek help before.”

SmartExam can help to treat more than 450 common medical conditions. To see a video demonstration of the SmartExam behavioral health module, click this link.
