Cardinal Analytx’s CMO Dr. Chris DeRienzo joined a panel discussion this week in Chicago to talk about the intersection of medicine, humanity, and technology. He highlighted how
advances in machine learning allow clinicians to engage with more people at the right time. In a keynote speech the next day at a large health IT conference, DeRienzo shared some of the most powerful lessons he’s drawn from his own connections with patients over nearly 20 years in healthcare.
“With technology now integrated into nearly every aspect of the doctor-patient relationship, it’s crucial to remember what technology can’t do: it can’t replace our humanity,” said DeRienzo. “The more we focus technology’s power on delivering clinicians back to the bedsides of patients who need them most, with more time to intervene, and with better data to inform their decisions, the more we can help re-humanize healthcare.”
DeRienzo, who recently joined Cardinal, is a neonatologist and distinguished scholar at Stanford’s Clinical Excellence Research Center. He is also the author of “Tiny Medicine – One Doctor’s Biggest Lessons from His Smallest Patients.”
