Sharecare, the health and wellness social media brainchild of Jeff Arnold and Dr. Mehmet Oz, announced an investment from Nashville-based Heritage Group brings its total funding to $91 million.

As part of the agreement, Rock Morphis, managing director at Heritage Group, is joining Sharecare’s board.

The Atlanta-based company, which launched in 2010, includes the health risk assessment the RealAge® Test and a social Q&A format that involves thousands of health and wellness experts to “simplify” the search for information.

“Our country’s health care system is on the precipice of a major transformation from one that merely treats the sick to one that fosters comprehensive health and wellness,” Arnold said. “By collaborating with trusted health care delivery networks, Sharecare is uniquely positioned to help people live their healthiest lives, and bring measurable quality and efficiency to population health management.”

“Sharecare is helping bridge the gap between the US health care system’s fee-for-service structure, and the rapidly evolving focus on accountable care and population health management,” Morphis said.

Sharecare has a list of big name investors that Heritage joins, including Harpo Productions, Sony Pictures Television, Hearst Corporation,  Claritas Capital,  Discovery Communications, Galen Partners, Harbert Management Corporation, New Evolution Ventures and TomorrowVentures, LLC.
