Cedars-Sinai offers its app on the Apple Watch

Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai said it’s one of only a handful of hospitals and health systems to make an app available on the Apple Watch.

Los Angeles, California-based Cedars-Sinai’s app is currently available on the Apple Watch.

The app allows users to manage their medical records, connect with their care team and access interactive maps and directions. Additionally, patients can use it to search for a doctor by name, condition or specialty.

“Whether patients are at one of our hospitals, medical offices or at home, our goal is to leverage technology to put their health records in their hands by meeting them where they are,” Cedars-Sinai CIO Darren Dworkin noted in a statement.

Cedars-Sinai said it’s one of only a few hospitals and health systems to make an app available on the Apple Watch.

“By expanding access to the Cedars-Sinai app on the Apple Watch, we can bring a whole new level of accessibility to our patients,” Matthew Pufall, mobile product manager at Cedars-Sinai, pointed out in a news release. “We invite staff to download and explore the apps, because our goal is to become ambassadors for the digital tools and innovative features Cedars-Sinai uses to improve the patient experience.”

The app is also available on iPads and Android phones.

This isn’t all that the academic medical center has been up to.

Earlier this month, it announced the 10 startups that made the cut for its accelerator, which is managed by Techstars. The businesses’ technologies range from artificial intelligence to microfluidics. This year’s cohort includes startups like Choice Map, Lumeon, Narrative Dx and Tasso.
