Jacksonville, Florida-based Guidewell Connect, part of the Guidewell family of companies, has acquired member engagement company OnLife Health.

OnLife, based in Nashville, Tennessee, was founded in 1996 as Gordian Health Solutions and was initially focused on providing population health management services for employers.

The company was later acquired by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee who expanded the company’s customer base to health plans.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

OnLife serves around 11 million people through contracts with health plans and employers and provides a range of health coaching and member engagement services including wellness programs, fitness centers and health screenings.

More recently the company has been focused on developing a personalization engine to help create individual health recommendations for members through its My Journey application and portal.

“We are thrilled to join GuideWell Connect,” OnLife CEO Mark McConnell said in a statement.

“Integrating Onlife’s user-friendly engagement portal with GuideWell Connect’s platform will allow us to reach a larger audience as we guide health care consumers to ‘the next right thing to do’ at each stage of their health care journeys.”

McConnell and the rest of the OnLife management team will stay on after the acquisition.

OnLife is being brought under the Guidewell Connect umbrella which also provides consumer engagement services to expand the footprint of the company and widen its technical capabilities.

Guidewell Connect previously acquired population health management company PopHealthCare in 2017 to expand its capabilities to care for patients suffering from complex and chronic illness in post-acute and in-home care settings.

“Onlife has one of the strongest wellness engagement platforms in the industry and the addition of their solutions will extend GuideWell Connect’s platform further along the health care consumer journey,” Guidewell Connect CEO Scott Paddock said in a statement.

“We are excited to bring Onlife’s expertise and capabilities in the personalized health content and navigation realm to our consumer engagement hub, providing our clients with additional value via a unified customer experience from beginning to end, ultimately improving engagement and retention.”
